The Art of Downsizing Possessions

 

At some point in each of our lives we face a move.  It is an event often exciting and almost always stressful before we’re through.  One of the most difficult parts of the process is sorting through the “stuff” accumulated through the years.  In an effort to take the hassle out of dealing with the disposal of possessions, Mary Anne Lukas of Southern Vermont Auction, LLC will lead two informative discussions, hosted by Equinox Village.

 From appraisals to auctions to estate and tag sales, Southern Vermont Auction Gallery LLC is a full service auction gallery specializing in estates.  In her talks, it is Ms. Lukas’ intent to educate attendees on making choices about their possessions and the best methods of disposal.  Some items will certainly be family gifts, some you may want to donate and some may have more value than expected and be worthy of sale. 

If you are planning a move or simply “spring cleaning” and the process seems overwhelming, there is help for you!  Please join Ms. Lukas at 7:00pm on Wednesday, May 21 or 4:00pm on Wednesday, May 28 at Equinox Village, Manchester’s Premier Independent Living Community.  Delectable refreshments provided by Equinox Village’s own Executive Chef Glenn Blackledge will accompany each talk.

SOUTHERN VERMONT AUCTION TERMS OF SALE

  1. Terms of sale: 12% buyer's premium MC, Visa, Discover, AmEx, 2% discount for cash, check or wire.

  2. 6% VT sales tax, unless valid resale certificate is presented. Must register to bid, provide proper ID and secure all absentee bids with credit card.

  3. All items must be paid in full and picked up on the day of sale. If you are unable to pick up your own merchandise, the bidder is responsible for making appropriate arrangements.

  4. Transfer of ownership occurs upon the auctioneer declaring the item “SOLD”. Staff will make every effort to protect items once sold, but it is Bidder’s responsibility to safeguard won lots. Property left behind with no notice to auction staff will be considered abandoned and discarded at the auctioneer’s discretion.

  5. All items are sold “where is, as is”, with no guarantees of any kind, regardless of statements from the auction block or the catalog. Bid on your knowledge only, based on your inspection of the property. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE ABOUT SOMETHING, PLEASE DO NOT BID.

  6. Bidder is responsible for knowing which item he/she is bidding on. If unsure, inquire or do not bid. When you become the winning bidder at auction, you have effected a contract and become responsible for payment for won items. Auctioneer will not honor “mistakes”.

  7. Bidder is responsible for making sure auctioneer sees his/her bid. It is YOUR responsibility to get the auctioneer’s notice before “SOLD” is said from the block. The auctioneer will not re-open items after declared “SOLD”, or “PASSED”.

  8. Auctioneer reserves the right to accept bids in any increment she deems appropriate. Auctioneer reserves the right to reject the bidding of any person in the audience whose conduct, actions or comments she feels are not in the best interest of the seller, or whose conduct is simply unbearably rude.
